Wong Man Kam, Christopher,
Chris graduated from the Music
Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1997, Chris won a scholarship to study at the Yale University, School of Music with Mr. Benjamin Verdery and graduated with a Master of
Music degree, majoring in guitar performance in 1999. Chris also studied
with Mr. David Russell and Ricardo Cobo.
Chris was the winner of the
Hong Kong Guitar Festival ’87. In 1990, he was chosen to attend the
“Santiago de Compostela International Guitar Festival” at the sponsorship
of the Spanish Consulate General. Chris was selected to play in the Master
Classes held by Manuel Barrueco and Eliot Fisk. Besides playing solo at
various concert halls and broadcasting radios, Chris occasionally played
with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and has attracted much attention
in performing as duet partners of violinists Takako Nishizaki and Rivka
Golani in live.
In 2003, Chris appeared in a
special interview program “Cultural Scene” produced by ATV and another
personal interview by the “Easy Finder” magazine. In 2005, Chris gave
guitar solo recitals and master classes in Sichuan Music Conservatory and
Xian Music Conservatory. In the same year, he performed with the Polish
National Opera Company in the Hong Kong Arts Festival.
Chris is now teaching at the
Music Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as the Music and Fine Arts Department of the Hong Kong Baptist University.
